The GBCLA’s yellow hazard buoys have been removed from Bobs and Crow Lakes for the season. Each year, dedicated volunteers place more than 60 marine-grade buoys to help boaters identify dangerous rocks and shoals throughout our lakes.
With the buoys now out of the water, it’s especially important to navigate with care. Water levels fluctuate throughout the season, changing the visibility of underwater hazards, and not every dangerous shoal can be marked.
A friendly reminder: Never rely on buoys alone to navigate. Know your route, watch for hazards, travel at a safe speed, and use extra caution in unfamiliar areas. Strong winds and boat wakes can also dislodge buoys during the season, so even marked locations may not always be accurate.
A big thank-you to the GBCLA volunteers who make this important safety program possible year after year!
