Community Objective:
• To promote a culture of environmental awareness to help ensure our lakes are healthy for future generations to enjoy.
• To promote the careful and responsible management of our lakes.
Action Plan:
• Contribute copy on conservation and environmental awareness to the Lake Views Magazine on a regular basis.
• Reach out beyond the membership to build a community of stewards on the lakes.
This may include outreach to local media, business organizations and community leaders.
• Liaise with other lake associations to work on issues of mutual concern (eg. Wolfe Lake Association’s Get the Lead Out Program).
• Liaise with regulatory bodies such as the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and local government.
• Liaise with others concerned with stewardship of the land such as the Friends of the Tay, Nature Conservancy of Canada, Ferguson Forest Centre, and Indigenous people.
• Support and report to the board on volunteer-driven projects such as Bioblitzes, Nature Flotillas and Nature Awareness presentations.
• Encourage all Bob's and Crow Lake users to practice environmentally sustainable techniques regarding:- invasive species, endangered species, tree diseases, shoreline preservation & rehabilitation, light pollution, non-importation of firewood and the 3 R’s.
